Natural Selection is a self as subject project in which I perform and interact with the natural landscape. I choose landscapes that are showing the signs of stress, climate change or other negative impacts. By adding the human element I seek to emphasize not only the role of humans on the environment, but also underline that we are a part of this fragile ecosystem and what we do affects not only nature, but humanity as well. In stripping away the context of clothing and therefore culture and individuality I utilize myself as an element of fragility, of vulnerability and hope it shows the need to understand this delicate relationship have with nature. Without change nature will more quickly become these scenes of devastation, and decay, almost deathscapes more than landscapes. If we better understand the human connection and showcase our relationships as truly intertwined together, we can have more empathy and compassion for nature and the land we inhabit.
