This work allows me to investigate the universal theme of life and death, specifically as it relates to the animals we raise and use for consumption. We all know where our food comes from generally speaking and in many ways we all want to ignore what that truly means, the death of something to nourish life in something else. My work is not to assess or evaluate this concern ethically necessarily, but to allow us to look critically at it and maybe even find some semblance of beauty in this idea, as well as honoring the animal and having a different relationship with it as a food source. My goal is to leave the viewer with more questions than answers, to invite us all to question practices, consumption, waste and social cultures related to animals, food and environment.
